Book Design: The 2008 Olympics and What It Has in Common with Writing…

It seems like the Olympic trials 2008 was just yesterday, yet it was weeks away. It comes every 4 years and we all gather around watching top athletes do their thing… their passion and excellence showing in every breath they take.

They’ve worked hard for this, studied, researched and practiced over and over the skills necessary to succeed…and place for their category. Most likely this has been a lifetime goal, to be a participant in the Olympics, to belong to that special group.

As an author you too have your own special Olympics. The book you are writing takes special preparation. Over time your book becomes a bigger part of you and your life. You find that you think about your subject and the next piece of information you will share. You are following your passion.

Keep it up. Create the passion that makes you a gold metal winner too!

Enjoy the journey!

Web-Presence: A plugin for your WordPress sites that adds a "Related Posts" section to each post.

The “Best Related Posts” plugin to use with your WordPress site is great for promoting more of your book, product and services at the end of each post you make. Why is this a good thing you ask? For your page ranking stats, your SEO of course!

Google ranks a website according to how important they look. How may pages you have and how many links you have and how good your content is, are among the top ways. But, the main way that Google determines this is by the amount of links that point to a page.

Google considers two types of links in their Continue reading

Using Your Website for Promotion… Do You Have a Website?

Don’t forget to put up a website.

I know, you’re thinking “… of course I’ll have a website!”

BUT

  • Will that site be working for you… or will you be working for it?
  • Will you be able to maintain the site yourself…or need to hire someone to maintain it?
  • Will it have bells and whistles that are supposed to make it easy to use or will it be easy to use?
  • Will you offer your book for sale either by your own fulfillment or send them to Amazon to purchase?
  • Be sure your sell copy is selling your benefits. Is it easy?  Is it obvious?
  • Will you blog about your subject?
  • Will you be sure to use keywords and other SEO tactics for the search engines to like your site?
  • Will it be interesting?

Just because websites are a given, a norm, understood… doesn’t mean it will work for you…so be sure you work for it in the beginning and give it the life you want for you, your book and your stories and it will eventually be working for you.

Book Design: "Who Sold My Cheese" A book about sales.

kirk_cheese_cvr_3d_72web

This is a great book by Kirk and Mary Kjelllberg that deals with the art of sales and creating the relationships necessary for sales success. Told in a story within a story format this book hits the spot.

I enjoyed working with Kirk and Mary on the cover and interior design of this book. If sales is something you need to learn about, this is your book. http://www.whosoldmycheese.com …. Available as single copy and contact them for quantity and custom book sales.

“Who sold my cheese was a wonderfully written book that teaches both new and veteran sales professionals the art of relationship sales. The content is transferable to any industry and is applicable to all employees within an organization. I would highly recommend business owners purchase this book for their staff. You will not be disappointed with the outcome…” Jeff W.
