Whatcha gonna do with your Blog?

USE IT of course!!
Blogs/blogging is an invaluable tool for any business looking to generate attention. Remember that blogs have RSS feeds and you can follow them through a Reader. This link will introduce you to some suggestions for RSS readers. And Google Reader is a choice too.

For your own blog, get a listing on Technorati which is a good place to also search for blogs in your industry, category, sphere of interest. AND Be sure to search around it to find the blogs you want to ‘subscribe’ to their RSS feeds. This will keep you updated on the latest posts of the sites/blogs you choose. And read about the rating system they have which rates traffic but be sure to check out all blogs you have interest in even if the rating is low.

Be sure to also create a Google profile and account so you can set Google Alerts to keep track of keywords and your own blog. I find this service invaluable for keeping track of when my site or subject is being talked about.

AND check out lots of other blog directories and search engines.

and Blog Catalog    http://www.blogcatalog.com

When you find the blogs you like, start participating in their conversations. Some will allow a ‘follow’ to your URL while others don’t. Be sure to make your comments helpful, not self serving. The owner of the blog might just ask you to write as a guest author… never know!

You might want to check out the directory of “do-follow” blogs that pass page rank at http://www.dofollowblogs.com/

Also be sure to put the RSS feed option on your web-blog. I set my mailing list up with the option, check to see if yours offers it. I find it very helpful when communicating with my readers, like you! There are free services that just send out emails from your posts, one of my sites also uses that one Feedburner offered by Google and accessible from your account.

Finding the time to research your market and get info from others can help you determining the best ways to move forward. I offer consulting/coaching sessions with a focus on book design, book promotion, book marketing and branding.
